Several months back I decided that Saturday’s Bible readings would come from Sunday’s assigned readings for church.
For Sunday 9/2/2012
Deut. 4:1-9; Psalm 119:129-136; Eph. 6:10-29; Mark 4:14-23
Follows is my gleanings from them! (Verses that were highlighted for me in my heart as I read the passages)
1) Deuteronomy 4:1 (amp) Now listen and give heed, O Israel, to the statutes and ordinances which I teach you, and do them, that you may live and go in and possess the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, gives you.
Ω My thoughts: Listen, my Daughter, to what you will be hearing from Me from My Word – heed and walk in what you learn, that this territory (may be spiritual in nature) may become yours.
2) Psalm 119:134 (amp) Deliver me from the oppression of man; so will I keep Your precepts [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying them].
Ω oppression of man – hurt of any kind
Ω My thoughts: People can be hurtful intentionally or unintentionally. I think we can also cause our own oppression by picking up offenses because of our misunderstandings. We can also make assumptions about others or situations that can be untrue which also is able to lead us into oppression.
Ω We are asking God to deliver us from oppression in order to become freer to follow Him! The key is to be delivered that I can put that energy & attention on Him instead of the hurt/pain. Sometimes the actual circumstance remains unchanged; however, our inner man is changed.
3) Ephesians 6:12 (erv) 12 Our fight is not against people on earth. We are fighting against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness. We are fighting against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places.
Ω My thoughts: Simply to recognize & acknowledge that our battles are not against people or things, but against the enemy our souls – the enemy of the cross!
4) Mark 7:15 (amp) There is not [even] one thing outside a man which by going into him can pollute and defile him; but the things which come out of a man are what defile him and make him unhallowed and unclean.
Ω My thoughts: This is speaking to my heart about those things which are outer things that don’t cause me to miss the mark but my attitudes, responses, actions, thought processes etc that I allow to cause me to miss the mark of the glory of God.
Ω Romans 3:23 (amp) “Since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives.” Recently I read a Bible note that said the glory of God was also the manifestation or display of His Nature – His Character; therefore, to miss that mark is to miss the opportunity of having Him display Himself through me or to me.
